Lady Gaga Unveils Music Video for New Single from Top Gun: Maverick Soundtrack


Iconic singer and actress Lady Gaga has just unveiled her newest music video. Featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming sequel Top Gun: Maverick and now available for preorder, Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” pays tribute to the Top Gun films with its video, even showing Gaga wearing Tom Cruise’s original jacket. The “Hold My Hand” video was directed by Joe Kosinski, the director of Top Gun: Maverick. It includes scenery that’s used for the sequel along with emotional scenes from the original Top Gun. “Hold My Hand” made its debut this week via Interscope Records where it earned acclaim with talk of putting Gaga in contention for next year’s Oscar race.


The single was written specifically for Maverick and is featured throughout the film. Lady Gaga produced the song with BloodPop, with additional production by Benjamin Rice. Its motion picture version featured in the film features additional production and score by Harold Faltermeyer and Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer. “Hold My Hand” also makes Gaga’s return to writing and producing original music for film after the success of the soundtrack for 2018’s A Star Is Born. That soundtrack earned Gaga an Oscar, four Grammys, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Critics’ Choice Award.

Top Gun: Maverick Brings Back Tom Cruise For a New Adventure in the Skies

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Top Gun: Maverick is written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie and is based on a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. The film brings back Tom Cruise to reprise his role as Pete Mitchell, aka Maverick, and Val Kilmer’s Tom “Iceman” Kazansky also returns. The film also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris.

Top Gun: Maverick is set to be released in movie theaters on May 27, 2022. This comes about after several significant delays, and with this sequel serving as one of the year’s most anticipated releases, chance are it will make a big splash when it lands at the box office later this month.
